This may be the season of joy, but it's quite another matter if you get behind on cleaning up after festivities, or you have guests arriving and you're simply not ready. But it doesn't take a genius to work out a few shortcuts to getting your home looking clean and sparkly. Try these great tips for size.

Zap dust & odours

Did you know that tumble-dryer sheets also make great dusters? They easily wipe away dust and leave behind a wonderful fragrance. Run a sheet over your horizontal surfaces and kick out bad odours by tucking a dryer sheet into your family's shoes.

Be a sheet cheat

That tablecloth that's been in a cupboard or drawer for months is bound to be full of creases. But there's no need to break your back ironing it. Put it in the dryer with two large damp towels and a dryer sheet. Tumble dry for 30-45 minutes. Take it out of the dryer and place it on the table, smoothing by hand. Decorate according to your own creative flair!

Let cutlery sparkle

Celebratory meals require the most polished cutlery. If your stainless steel is discoloured, rub a little Cif Cream Cleanser onto the utensil and then rinse clean.

Polish your taps

Use an old toothbrush dipped in Cif Cream Cleanser to clean those awkward bits behind taps in your kitchen or bathroom.

Keep the bugs at bay

If you're a whizz in the kitchen, disinfect chopping boards before and after making meals or nibbles. And don't forget to wipe your door handles, phones, taps & other contact surfaces with a clean, disinfectant cloth. Studies indicate that a high proportion of cold bugs are caught off these types of surface – and that's one present you won't want to pick up.
