Bacteria-busting with Domestos

Just because your home looks pristine doesn’t necessarily mean it’s germ-free. Microscopic nasties can lurk unseen all over your kitchen and bathroom, but there are ways to banish these unwelcome and irritating invaders.

Of the millions of unseen micro-organisms occupying our homes, most are not harmful. However, some can cause infections that make people ill and these are the ones we call germs. They include bacteria, viruses and fungi, and enter our homes in food and water or on pets and people.

The kitchen is a favourite place for germs. Here they can live, multiply and spread quickly. It is important to cook, store and handle food properly, and make sure you keep all kitchen surfaces hygienically clean.

Lurking in familiar places

A particular germ hot-spot is the kitchen bin. Discarded food inside can harbour a host of tummy-troubling bacteria. Make sure you wash your hands after tossing anything into the bin, especially if you're preparing food, to avoid spreading the bugs.

Keep your kitchen worktops hygienic by spraying them with Domestos Bleach Cleaning Spray before and immediately after use to kill any germs before they can strike. And the spray gun is also ideal for reaching into the depths of your bin. A quick wipe around the insides will keep your bin cleaner for longer.

Ban bugs in the bathroom

Germs also love to lurk in the bathroom, with the flush handle and the toilet bowl being particular favourites of these tiny terrors. The bacteria that cause violent stomach bugs such as Norovirus and Rotavirus take refuge here and can spread quickly.

A dose of Domestos Thick Bleach down the toilet bowl zaps these germs in an instant, and Domestos Bleach Cleaning Spray is ideal for wiping down the flush and seat, stopping the bugs in their tracks.

But it's not just the toilet where germs can linger. Your basin taps are a virus-spreading danger zone, with well-intentioned people turning on the water to wash their hands straight after a visit to the toilet. And the shower is another area to watch. Those sparkling tiles might look clean, but mould and mildew, which can take residence on shower curtains or in the gaps between tiles, can cause allergic reactions.

The unique germ-killing power of bleach will make sure that however menacing, they'll meet their demise in seconds.
